Key discussion topics will include how Registry data advances understanding of patient outcomes, influences practice guidelines, and fosters innovation through rigorous analysis and peer-reviewed projects. Attendees will learn about the application process and best practices to submit impactful RAI proposals.

Registries in Action: The Impact of Data in Orthopaedics

A demonstration and explanation of the value that AAOS registries can provide surgeons with Surgeon Authorized User access. A forum to guide understanding of the real-world impact of Registry participation on patient care and orthopaedic innovation. Discussion of recent enhancements, upcoming enhancements, surgeon benefits and utility of features to guide musculoskeletal practice decisions, and quality improvement projects. Opportunities to engage with the Registry team to learn about utilizing Registry data for research projects, quality improvement, and understanding local and global patient care trends.
Streamlining Quality Recognition: AAOS Registries and Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction® Specialty Care

A discussion on the Blue Distinction® Specialty Care, a national designation program awarded by local Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. It recognizes healthcare providers that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality and affordable healthcare to meet consumers’ specialty care needs—safely, effectively, and cost-efficiently. The AAOS Registry Program is collaborating with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) to allow quality outcomes data from the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) and American Spine Registry (ASR), a collaborative effort between the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the AAOS, to be evaluated by BCBSA for current and prospective centers.
AI in Prior Authorization

Surgeons and patients want and deserve a prior authorization process that is transparent, intelligent and simple to use. Responsible, clinically trained and patient centric AI should not replace clinical judgement, but rather strengthen it. With the use of digital platforms, automated processes and appropriately used AI the prior authorization process may be streamlined to minimize disruptions and improve patient care.

The AJRR 2025 Annual Report Supplement will be officially launched at the Annual Meeting. This session will provide an in-depth presentation of the report’s findings by Dr. Richard Illgen and/or Dr. Stambough. The presentation will engage attendees with current orthopaedic issues addressed by the Registry data, promote Academy initiatives, and foster discussion on data-driven practice improvements and professional networking.
